Earlier this month, I spoke to Brian Thomas, a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist for Nuffield Health.
During the interview, he explained that when train drivers are exposed to trauma, such as a railway fatality, their brains can often forget parts of the story, which can leave them feeling responsible for the person's death.
However through therapy, drivers can "fill in the gaps" of the event and accept that it wasn't their fault.
