Earlier this month, I met with Jamie Matterface, a former train driver who opened up to me about the time she witnessed a gentleman take his own life by standing in front of her train at Rayner's Park, in London.
During the interview, she explained the struggles she faced following this traumatic event, the support she received afterwards and the help she now gives to other drivers in her managerial role.
However, she also shared with me the time she coaxed a young woman off of the tracks who was trying to take her own life, not for the first or second time, but for the third.
For Jamie, this affected her emotionally more so than the incident at Rayner's Park.
