In September, I spoke to Liam Johnston, Railway Mission's Executive Director, to find out more about the support their chaplains provide to train drivers who have witnessed suicide.
Mr Johnston explained that the charity provides "independent, confidential and impartial, pastoral care" for railway staff facing various problems, including those struggling after witnessing suicide at work.
During the interview, he said that when there is fatality, Railway Mission are notified by Network Rail.
However, he revealed: "In the coming days we don't go to site because we don't want to be traumatised ourselves by witnessing a disrupted body."
He also explained that there are numerous support networks in place for the chaplains.
